Autumn in St. Michaels with a few “sheepy” friends

The first Explore 4™ on the Eastern Shore event is over, my bags are mostly unpacked, I’ve become re-acquainted with the 4-foots in my life, and it’s time to reflect before launching headlong into planning for 2014.   Yes, St. Michaels, MD, we will return!

Deborah Robson - in her own words and picturesIn the Explore 4™ workshops, Deborah Robson chooses a set of breeds to cover that will offer opportunities for comparing and contrasting wool types; that will shed light on some of the history of sheep; and that will give lots of opportunities to play with different preparation and spinning techniques.  The fleeces are locally sourced from MD, PA, VA, and NJ – supporting local shepherds as well as the breeds.

The breeds we covered—all locally sourced—were: Corriedale, Hog Island, Jacob, and Shetland.   Thanks to Deb for providing the links and photos for this posting – I was too busy loving the fibers to be a good photographer.   You can read Deb’s full description of the event here.  But do come back when you’re finished.
